Alltel to distribute Motorola’s MOTOwi4 wireless broadband portfolio

Motorola’s MOTOwi4 Canopy portfolio will soon be made available to a large number of Independent Operating Companies (IOCs) in the United States, effectively providing a more affordable wireless broadband solution. Although only announced today, the deal between Motorola and Alltel Supply Co. was put into effect in Q4 of last year.

Under this agreement, Alltel Supply will act as the primary distributor of Motorola’s MOTOwi4 Canopy products to IOCs. Alltel Supply’s director of marketing Scott Evans sees that Motorola’s product line “can cost-effectively extend voice and high-speed digital subscriber lines (DSL) of our IOC customers.” Look for everything from broadband over powerline and metropolitan Wi-Fi mesh, to high-speed backhaul solutions and WiMAX.

The high-speed wireless broadband solution, designed both for private and public networks, won the 2005 SUPERquest Award for Continuous Achievement, and will now be more readily available to independent companies through Alltel.
