Motorola took the wraps off an indoor 3G access point on Wednesday, promising that the Motorola AXPT would deliver the advanced cellular technology throughout a business.

The access point takes the role of a full base station, adding cellular tasks such as SIM authentication and circuit-switched voice and roaming. It will be available to users of both UMTS and HSDPA.

“It delivers high quality coverage and capacity in-building directly where operators need to serve their enterprise customers,” Raghu Rau, senior vice president, global marketing and strategy for Motorola Networks, said in a statement.

The access point will be demonstrated fully at the 3GSM World Congress trade show in Barcelona, Spain, in February.
