Mako Analysis, a British mobile market analysis, consulting and research firm, is yet another company to release a study about some aspect of the market in order to get the attention of customers. This time the report is called Handset Trends 2006 and I bet you can guess what it is about. It is chock full of thoughts and opinions, some more profound than others. Among the more interesting:
- They do not believe the hype that 2006 will be the year of HSDPA
- Bluetooth connectivity will replace infrared on lower end handsets
- 3G devices will finally be the size and weight of high end 2G devices
- Mobile music will be a key battleground for phone manufacturers. They suggest that the winners and losers will surprise us (whatever that means)
- Camera technology will continue to rapidly advance. They see 5 megapixel models showing up in 2006
