LG JM53 – a portable digital player in a tiny package

If you believe good things come in small packages then you will love the new LG JM53 Portable Digital Player which was unveiled at CES last week. It is an 8GB media player with a nice little screen. So what, you say? Well, chances are it is smaller than your cell phone. It measures just 3.9” x 1.9” x 0.55”. Like I said, small.

The small wonder does audio in all the formats you would expect – MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG. Video is in MPEG4. The pictures will look great on the screen. It’s only 1.77”, but the 260,000 colors and the OLED will make the video look great. All of it is powered by a battery that boasts 30 hours of life on a single charge. It doesn’t get much better than that.

The interface is unique and three-dimensional. Navigation is done by the index finger. LG also includes intuitive music management software to help you keep track of your tunes. No word yet when this tiny machine will be available or what it will cost.
