A partnership between Apple computer and the Chrysler Group will make full integration of iPod technology into Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge model vehicles a viable option in the first quarter of this year.

The prize is the more than 3 million 2006 model vehicles that will have as an option the iPod Integration Kit. In addition, the kit can be modified to fit most 2005 Chrysler Group models. The result of every one of these transactions will be the direct and seamless use of an iPod while operating a Chrysler Group vehicle.

“Customers have been asking for iPod connectivity and we’re excited to make it available to so many of our vehicles in 2006,” said Randy Ewers, director, Mopar Accessories Portfolio Team. “We’re providing the largest number and range of automobiles with iPod support of any automaker, allowing Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge owners to bring and listen to their entire music collections.”

Many other automakers now make it easy to use your iPod in their vehicles. The difference with the Chrysler announcement is the preinstallment option and the easiest integration yet, requiring no outside devices and having the world’s best-selling portable music player in mind from the outset.
