At CES 2006, Imagination Technologies, leader in system-on-chip intellectual property (SoC IP), will demonstrate advanced IP for mobile 3D graphics. This will enable mobile users to experience console-class 3D gaming, advanced user interfaces and 3D messaging.
This technology is being used in PowerVR SGX shader-based graphics and video architecture recently announced by IT, as well as also being licensed to partners which include Freescale, Intel, Texas Instruments, Philips, Renesas, Samsung and Sunplus.
The newest technology from imagination is highly efficient and built on low-bandwidth architecture, has succeeded in bringing console-class gaming to the mobile world. The widespread acceptance of PowerVR by some of the world’s top technology companies has created a new, pervasive mobile gaming platform which has been willingly adopted by leading mobile device manufacturers and service providers including Sony Ericsson, Fujitsu, NEC, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Motorola, SK Teletech, NTT DoCoMo (FOMA) and Dell.
For the gaming enthusiast a range of games titles are already available supporting PowerVR MBX.
Speaking on the occasion Peter McGuinness, Imagination Technologies Business Development Director (USA) said, “PowerVR MBX is a significant step forward for mobile graphics and has been adopted by six of the top ten semiconductor vendors for their next generation mobile application processors. Indeed, PowerVR is the de facto standard today for advanced mobile graphics and we expect PowerVR SGX to be equally successful for future mobile devices.”
