Nokia announces contest for s60 3rd Edition developers

If you are a software developer with a competitive streak, Nokia wants you to work on the s60 platform. The company has announced the Forum Nokia s60 3rd Edition Challenge, where delvelopers can compete for 100,00 Euros worth of grand prizes. They are looking for C++ and Flash applications for the s60 3rd Edition Platform, used in smartphones by Nokia and other licensees.

There are four categories that companies can compete in, each of which has a 25,000 Euro first prize. They are mobile enterprise, mobile music, location-aware applications and Flash Lite mobile media applications. Winners will also receive one year membership in Forum Nokia PRO, a demo spot at a Nokia event, free on-site technical support and consulting, and devices and marketing support from Handango, a Nokia partner.

The contest is co-sponsored by Macromedia. Registration is open until December 15. There are prizes and benefits for registering as soon as possible. Projects are due at the end of March and the winners will be unveiled at the s60 World event in Cannes in May.
