Buffalo shock-proof HD-PHG external harddrive

Buffalo Japan has announced an impact resistant
portable hard drive solution, the HD-PHG. This hard drive has adopted a floating structure and shock absorbing bumper body so that under any physical shock situation, the data saved on the drive will be kept without any loss.

The HD-PHG has been put through vigorous dropping tests which drop it from 1m heigh and different angles about
26 times. The test results show that it is able to read and
write steadily after the test.

It has also been equipped with Secure Lock Mobile
Systems, this enables the user to set up encrypted areas on the drive to keep various data secure.

Body size is 127 x 23 x 84mm and weight is 195g.

Expected prices are 14,200 yen (US $119) for a 40GB unit and 22,050 yen (US $185) for the 80GB.
