Either Apple feels bad, or they are sick of getting sued. Either way, they have started shipping their very scratchable iPod Nano with a protective sleeve. They are apparently thin and fabric and much like those that come with the 5G iPods.

It’s a nice touch and it will certainly help people who choose to use them to avoid all the scratches. It also gives Apple an out for future claims, since everyone will now have a cover, so the scratches won’t be Apple’s fault. I just wish Steve Jobs and his buddies had made a unit which didn’t scratch easier than a stick of butter in the first place.

No word on if or how you can get your own case if you are a current Nano owner. I’m sure they would happily give you one if you promised not to sue them.
