Hot on the heels of the incredibly ugly FY700, MPIO has unveiled another new music player, the FL400. Thankfully, this one is actually quite nice to look at. It’s a flash player that is nice and small. It comes in 256MB, 512MB and 1GB sizes, which seems more than a little small to compete with these days. It supports MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG, giving you many options. The Li-Polymer battery offers 8.5 hours of playback, so you will be able to hear songs twice in one sitting with the smallest memory size.

The LCD display is only 128×48, but that is more than adequate for this machine, since it doesn’t promise to be any more than a basic player, anyway, except for the watch. It is, though, a sporty necklace and a small pendant that will crank the tunes out for you.

My Japanese isn’t good enough to figure out when this unit will hit the market, but I’m not sure that there will be a rush for the stores when it comes out, anyway.
