iRiver struggles to compete with iPod, so they are doing the logical thing and taking on the PSP. At least they are ambitious. Their upcoming portable gaming handheld sports a nifty feature, though. It will feature WiBro, the cutting edge competitor to WiMax for future wireless domination.
ReignCom, the makers of iRiver products, are based in Korea and this unit is designed to capitalize on the emerging WiBro networks in the country. 9 million WiBro subscribers are expected in the country by 2001.
The device is scheduled to be available in August of next year. No word on where it will be available or what it will offer besides WiBro to make PSP quiver in fear.
