Some of the gadgets I write about get me more excited than others. This one just blows me away. Very nifty. The Toshiba Red Transformer is an impressive laptop. It features a 17 inch flat screen. That is nice, but it is the unique feature which makes it a dream for home users. The screen turns on a specially designed hinge, the integrated speaker folds up for the screen to rest on and voila – you have a 17” flat screen home entertainment system which has lost the look of a computer.

A remote control is hidden within the laptop until you need it. The keyboard can be removed so that you can run the show from across the room. The outside shell of the machine is bright enamel red. It looks as impressive closed as the unit does when it is open and transformed. There are no details about price or availability yet, but I’ll be waiting expectantly.
