Definitely for the aspiring photographer in all of us, Nikon’s semi professional D200 Digital SLR may even appeal to pros.

The endless barrage of the Nikon D200’s features and functions read like a “what’s what” in the digital camera field. For instance the advanced imaging processing engine with color-independent pre-conditioning and digital image processing algorithms that achieve fine color gradations with exceptionally smooth, consistent transitions are a perfect way take those snapshots of your dog that your friends love looking at. But lest we forget shutter speeds ranging from 30 to 1/8,000 sec. for full creative control, large, bright viewfinder offering 0.94x magnification, and a new high-energy EN-EL3e rechargeable lithium-ion battery delivering the power to shoot up to 1,800 pictures on a single charge that round out a holy trinity of “must haves” for the digital camera lover.

But the hits just keep on coming – 10.2 effective Mega-pixels, a 2.5 inch format LCD display with 230,000 (you are reading correctly) pixels all packed in a lightweight, solid magnesium alloy body – you may never need another camera again…well at least until next year.

More new features include a Wireless Transmitter WT-3 for wi-fi transmissions of your photos, and the Nikon i-TTL speedlight technology.

Estimated release date is the end of December 2005. Price will be just shy of US $1700.
