Motorola has launched the i870, a clamshell model for the WiDEN network used by Sprint Nextel. For the most part it has the features you would expect. It sports a 1.3 Megapixel camera and camcorder, music playback with microSD memory cards, Bluetooth and multimedia messaging. It also features the MOTOtalk two-way radio, which can cover six miles and Selective Dynamic Group Call (SDGC), which allows simultaneous two-way talk between 20 users.
All that is fine, but there is a twist. Uniquely, this phone is covered by an antimicrobial coating. This feature, which is popular in Asia but new to North America, means that bacteria will not grow on, or be spread by, your phone. If that pesky hand washing thing gets you down, then this may just be the machine for you.
If you have $300, then this phone could be yours today. It is available and ready for germ-free use.
