Macromedia to create new Flash Lite for BREW

Macromedia and Qualcomm have announced an agreement under which a version of Macromedia Flash Lite will be created as an extension for BREW. The formal announcement to this effect was made on Tuesday.

BREW solution is Qualcomm’s content delivery and monetization system for mobile phones. This will help the large developer community to create rich, engaging mobile content on the Flash Platform for the BREW solution.

The new version will enrich the experience of both the developer community as well as the Brew community as they realize the efficacy of using Flash, when they use it in their applications, it provides a good return on their investment. On the other hand, it will give the flash community a new channel to monetize their mobile work. The new version will be available next year.
Macromedia’s vice president and general manager of mobile devices commented “By providing an extension of Macromedia Flash Lite for BREW, mobile developers will have a prime opportunity to bring compelling Flash services and content to mobile devices globally. We are excited to extend our partnership with QUALCOMM to bring great mobile experiences to more than 56 operators.”
