Toshiba has shipped the Tecra S3 notebook computer which promises to take care of most security concerns of corporate and individual users. The company is projecting this new addition to its popular Tecra S Series as the notebook that will offer enhanced data security and protection features.
The S3 claims to enhance security against data theft and protect users’ confidentiality on the basis of possessing a built-in security net at multiple levels.
Primarily based on Toshiba’s exclusive and premier EasyGuard technology, the Tecra S3 assists in negating unauthorized access, data theft and virtual attacks. Its multiple level security system includes the Trusted Platform Module security chipset and software application that stores encryption keys, passwords and user credentials to ensure that data is only viewed and accessed by the authorized user.
Another key feature of its security structure is an embedded biometric fingerprint reader, this allows the user to replace typing in the login information with a swipe of their finger to access the notebook. The key to access the notebook by the authorized user has also been strengthened by the HDLock system. HDLock in Tecra S3 ensures that the hard drive remains encrypted and inaccessible at system boot-up, hibernation or shut-down to anyone but the owner of the unique A-Key and password. All in all, the notebook indeed has advanced security features that may draw your attention if you are too much concerned with security issues and have very important data on hand.
The S3 also has several fault tolerant features for durability, the Toshiba Hard Disk Drive Protection System helps safeguard the Tecra S3’s hard drive against possible damage resulting from accidental dropping, turbulence, impact or vibration. With the 3D accelerometer, the Toshiba HDD Protection System detects when the Tecra S3 experiences unsafe, sudden “acceleration” in any direction. Once danger is detected, the hard drive immediately places itself into a protected mode and parks the hard drive head until the system determines it is safe to resume normal operation.
It also features the much needed spill-resistant, or should I say coffee blocker keyboard.
