SanDisk brings TrustedFlash technology to its memory cards

SanDisk has added the advantages of Trusted- Flash technology to its new Gruvi memory cards. The technology will enable consumers to buy premium music, movies and games on flash memory cards which can then be interchangeably in mobile phones, laptop computers, PDAs and other portable devices.

By enabling the memory card to posses the purchased content to be used in a series of devices, TrustedFlash has done away with the previous constraints of using them only on a single specific device, thus offering the users a wider choice and freedom of their content. The technology also promises superior security and digital rights management (DRM) solutions to the memory cards – a point which will work in the favor of content providers who are concerned by these issues. TrustedFlash products, thus, could become a favorite release platform for music and movies producers. Said Eli Harari, SanDisk CEO while announcing the new offering from his company, “ TrustedFlash cards will unlock a world of premium content to consumers using mobile phones, music players, game players and video players, while providing strong security to content providers such as record, movie and game companies.”

It took over two years for SanDisk to develop TrustedFlash technology and it has already been favorably received by industry leaders in entertainment, mobile handsets and crypto-security segments like EMI Music, Samsung Mobile Communications, Yahoo! Music and NDS.
