Olympus has released an upgrade to their E-300 digital SLR. The new model, the Evolt E-500 has several upgrades including a high ISO noise filter, a 2.5-inch LCD screen, and a better 49 area metering sensor.

The E-500 still features the same 8 megapixel CCD sensor that the E-300 has, but the upgraded noise and body features are a step in the right direction. As for a few more vitals, the camera will take burst captures at 2.5fps, two memory card slots (CFII and xD picture card), and has a built in pop up flash.

The biggest news would have to be the price; you should be able to pick up the E-500 body and the 14-45mm kit lenses for $800USD. Killer price for a beginner digital SLR.
