Global telecom major Siemens has now come out with a new cordless phone that promises to provide unique internet communication facilities for users. The Gigaset SL75 WLAN phone, is a new wireless LAN Voice-over-IP handset that can facilitate broadband users with a WLAN router to derive the benefits of internet communication even without the use of a PC. The phone will remain operational within a limited area in and around the vicinity of the house or an office or a holiday hub for internet connectivity.

Apart from allowing internet phone calls, the Gigaset SL75 WLAN handset also facilitates instant messaging service (IM) functions as well as two way emailing with photo attachments. The handset can capture an image through the integrated digital camera which could be immediately shared with anybody, anywhere.

The handset also has extra storage capacity of up to 200 entries, with names, numbers, email and postal addresses. An additional feature of the handset is: the contact data and ringer tones in the phone can also be directly downloaded from PC to the Gigaset via WLAN – without a data cable.

The Gigaset SL75 WLAN is slated to become commercially available in the global market from November 2005. The initial sets will be available in night grey color and will be sold in the price range of around EUR 300.
