Korean multimedia device manufacturer Cowon, has launched the 20 and 30GB Cowon A2 PMP with 4-inch 16:9 TFT LCD. The player supports DivX, XviD, MPEG4 and WMV9 video, as well as MP3, OGG, WMA(ASF) and WAV audio files. An AV input adapter allows for the recording of video and audio, with the capability to schedule recordings. The picture viewer supports JPG, PNG and BMP image files, which can also be played back with music in a slide show.

The A2’s display is not only wide, it features a 0.183mm pixel pitch with 160,000 colours (sharp and clear), the JetEffect sound field allows for BBE sound effects to simulate various environments.

Due to ship throughout Korea next month, the A2 will hold a retail price tag of 459,000 and 529,000 WON (US $450 and US $520) for the 20GB and 30GB units respectively. With it’s impressive battery life of 10 hour video and 18 hour audio playback on a 5 hour charge, the Cowon A2 will surely be sent to North American retailers soon.
