One of the great testaments to the popularity of the iPod is the growing number of accessories that various manufacturers are bringing to market. So here brings a UK-based design from Monitor Audio – i-Deck, a docking system that enables you to turn your iPod into a full-blown stereo.

The i-Deck features a credit-card sized wireless remote control, 2 two-way speakers, and replaceable bezels to support third- and fourth-generation iPod models, iPod color, iPod mini and iPod Photo. Basically any iPod with a dock connector will work. It also features a 30-pin port enabling you to synchronize operations with your PC or Mac through USB or Firewire. An auxiliary line input also enables you to connect to various devices that have a 3.5mm stereo mini jack (e.g., iPod Shuffle, portable CD players, etc.)

The two-way speakers each have a 4-inch bass driver and the firm’s trademark 14mm gold-coated dome tweeters to produce punchy bass and articulate high- and mid-frequency audio. You can position the speakers next to the amplifier or anywhere else in the room as you like.

i-Deck allows for continuous playback of your iPods audio files so there’s no need for you to restart anything. In fact, you can just leave your i-Deck be for as long as you want because the unit also recharges the iPod during playback.

The i-Deck stereo system for the iPod retails for US $349 and up.
