Twentieth Century Fox and Lowes Theaters are teaming up to bring movie content to your mobile phone. Moviegoers will be able to download items such as trailers, wallpapers, ringtones and movie schedules via your cell’s Bluetooth functions.
Fox and Lowes will use the technology employed by WideRay Corp that will manage content distribution through on-location download stations. Locations will include Loews Lincoln Square in New York, the Loews Universal Citywalk in Los Angeles and the Loews Metreon in San Francisco, from May 27 through August 15. The content in the pilot run includes “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, “Fantastic Four”, and “Kingdom of Heaven,”.
Your Bluetooth phone will automatically be notified when you come in range of the content download stations and it will take less than 30 seconds to download a full movie trailer. Of course, there won’t be any extra charges involved.
