A man who was outside a Florida residence using his laptop was arrested for accessing a home Wi-Fi network. George Kajtsa called the police department after seeing a suspicious vehicle parked out front of his house, whenever he looked out the window, the man in the 4×4 closed the lid on his laptop.

When the police arrived, the man was still there typing away, then finally shut the lid on his laptop again. The PC was seized and sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for potential evidence.

Kajtsa was afraid he would be linked to whatever this guy was doing while using his Internet connection, like visiting illegal porn sites or some type credit card fraud.

Florida law prohibits unauthorised access to a computer or network. This can be easily prevented by using encryption or MAC address filtering.
