Google Inc. today unveiled a new mobile search engine that enables mobile phone users to search web pages designed specifically for viewing on mobile devices. The Google Mobile Web Search indexes sites using XHTML technology to deliver content. XHMTL combines HTML and XML (extensible markup language) to deliver content specially designed for mobile applications.

To use Google’s mobile search, you would access the Google search website from your mobile phone, type in your search and select “Mobile Web (Beta)” as the search option.

Other features on Google’s mobile search include image searching and the ability to search for products and services locally. A text-based messaging service, Google SMS, is also available to mobile users.
