Seagate today announced they are now shipping their 8GB CompactFlash Type II card (1-inch microdrive) to OEM customers. This is officially the largest 1-inch hard drive and is priced much lower than 8GB flash-based cards.

With the 8GB CFII from Seagate, you can expect to carry around about 2400 full-resolution photos from a 6 megapixel camera. Or how nice would it be to have that inside your mobile phone, PDA or iPod mini.
