PalmOne officially launched the PalmOne LifeDrive today, pre-orders are available at Amazon for $499 and it is expected to ship in 2-3 weeks time.
LifeDrive is using a 4GB Hitachi Microdrive, we definitely know how good these drives are. I have personally been using one in my D70 digital camera for 2 years now with no problems, they are extremely reliable.
The LifeDrive sports built-in Wi-Fi 802.11b and Bluetooth 1.1 wireless. This is perfect for individuals accessing POP, IMAP and Exchange email around the world by simply stepping into a hotspot and running the included VersaMail client. WiFile software will allow you to retrieve documents from your main computer while Blazer web browser will get you surfing on the web. Devices nearby can sync via Bluetooth, print wirelessly to a Bluetooth printer, or dial a Bluetooth phone.
Of course Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Acrobat files are supported.
An expandable SD/SDIO and MMC card slot allow for extra storage and digital photo backups, simply pop in your expansion card from your camera and transfer to the 4GB drive.
The screen is a 320×480 Transflective TFT color touchscreen
And the physical size is 4.76h x 2.87w x 0.74t inches, and 6.8 ounces. A built-in Rechargeable Lithium Ion battery is included, but no estimated battery life was given.
