Nikon has upgraded their Coolpix S1 to a splash resistant version (IEC 60529 IPX4 standard) and renamed it the Coolpix S2. The only big difference is their new “right-angle” optics system so the lens functions without protruding from the camera body. The S2 still features a 5.1 megapixel sensor and the same slim compact design. The only other difference is that it is slightly larger and heavier than the S1 at 91.9×59x22mm with a weight of 140g.

Coolpix S2 features include:

- 2.5-inch LCD
- SD memory card slot
- 35-105mm 3x Optical Zoom-Nikkor ED† lens (35mm equivalent).
- 12MB internal memory
- 4x digital zoom

The Coolpix S2 should hit stores early summer.
