Novatel Wireless has developed two High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) PCI Express mini card modems for laptops and other portable devices, the embedded wireless modems will connect users to HSDPA networks throughout the world.
The Expedite EU730 is the North American PCI Express Mini Card, it operates on 850 and 1900 MHz UMTS / HSDPA networks. The Expedite EU740 will operate on 2100 MHz UMTS / HSDPA networks in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Both cards are also backward compatible to 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz EDGE, GPRS and GSM networks wordwide.
These will be integrated in new notebooks directly on the laptop motherboard, the design allows for OEMs to reduce integration costs and leave external slots available for other devices.
“Novatel Wireless is simplifying the integration of high-speed broadband access on mobile devices, helping manufacturers meet the growing demand for turnkey solutions,” said Dr. Slim Souissi, CTO of Novatel Wireless. “By diversifying our portfolio and developing more advanced HSDPA devices, Novatel Wireless continues its lead in the 3G broadband data market.”
