AMD has announced four new 64-Bit Mobile Processors; the 3700+, 3400+, 3200+, 3000+ and 2800+. The processors will be based on the AMD64 technology which is backwards compatible with 32-bit applications but offers seamless transition to 64-bit computing.
The chip also offers Enhanced Virus Protection (EVP) when enabled in XP’s service pack 2, and HyperTransport technology.
The Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 3700+ should hit the streets very soon, as it’s already available in Gateway’s new 7426GX notebook. As for the pricing, well, if you are a laptop manufacture you can purchase the Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 3700+ for $336 in 1,000-units. The rest of the pricing is listed at http://www.amd.com/pricing.
