MicroSD to Phase out TransFlash

SanDisk today announced that their microSD format cards are currently under review by the SD Card Association to become the new standard for small format memory cards. SanDisk will integrate TransFlash into their microSD product line due to it already being backward and forward compatible, also with plans to eventually phase out TransFlash.

MicroSD is much smaller than normal SD cards, measuring 11mm x 15mm x 1mm. The microSD cards will come with an adapter which allows them to be used in SD compatible devices. Storage space on microSD cards is by no means as small as the device; card capacities are already as high as 256MB with plans to go bigger.
