A desktop cellphone won’t be much use to most people, but if you are elderly and have trouble using tiny gadgets with far from normal sized buttons, the Jablotron desktop cellphone may have a purpose for you. Developed in the Czech Republic by electronic security device manufacturer Jablotron, the GDP-02 GSM Desktop Phone will use a standard GSM SIM card for making and receiving calls.

In addition to the large buttons and easy to use interface, a complete alphabetical “QWERTY” keypad and a large illuminated display make it easy to send text messages.

According to Viktor Slanar of Jablotron, they have already shipped around 7000 of these phones, and have 100,000 more on order.
