Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter

Logitech, makers of my favorite mice, announced a new wireless presentation controller with a programmable timer and 50ft range. The device will feature a 1-by-1/2-inch LCD display with counts down, or counts up the time, however you set it. It doesn’t stop there; it also has a 5min and 2min vibration warning. Also, there are multiple buttons to program on the device, including one which turns on a blank black slide.

The Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter has an impressive battery life of six months with frequent use.

Pricing and Availability

The new Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter is expected to be available online and in retail stores in the U.S. and Europe beginning in February. Its suggested retail price is $79.95 in the U.S. The Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter will also be available as a five-pack through some business and system integrator channels.

See press release below.

Logitech, the world’s leading manufacturer of cordless PC peripherals, today at the Consumer Electronics Show unveiled a new wireless presentation controller with a built-in programmable timer. The new Logitech(R) Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter will help business professionals manage their time while they wirelessly control their presentation.

The Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter is designed for the growing number of mobile professionals who frequently deliver presentations. Its features enable people to maximize eye contact and interact naturally with their audience. The timer, displayed on a 1-by-1/2-inch LCD, is large enough to see with a quick glance — and it provides vibration feedback when there are five and two minutes left on the timer. The presentation controls are easy to identify by touch, allowing the user to focus on the audience rather than fumbling to find the next slide. And with a wireless range of 50 feet, the user can control a presentation while roaming freely in almost any environment.

“With this product, we’ve addressed two fundamental problems that plague people who give presentations: running out of time and the disruptive mechanical process of changing slides,” said Ashish Arora, Logitech director of product marketing, Retail Pointing Devices. “The timer helps keep presenters on track and on time. With the easy-to-identify buttons and extended wireless freedom, we’ve made it easier to stay focused on the audience instead of on the computer. Presenters can maintain eye contact as they wander freely about a room, without running back and forth to their PC or awkwardly signaling for someone else to push a button to go to the next slide.”

Logitech’s reliable 2.4 GHz wireless technology makes the device easy to set up and easy to pack away. Installing the device simply involves plugging the 2.4 GHz mini-receiver into a computer’s USB port. The Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter is automatically paired at manufacturing with its mini-receiver, which eliminates the connection process; there is no software to install. When not in use, the mini-receiver is easily and safely stowed away in an internal slot within the Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter. The product also comes with a protective storage case for travel.

Logitech has tailored the function and form of this product to suit the needs of people who make a lot of presentations. At approximately 4 1/2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide, the Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter fits comfortably in the hand, large enough to maneuver but not so large or flashy that it draws unnecessary attention. The Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter has a simple, logical button layout that is easy to navigate by feel. The two largest buttons represent the Forward and Back commands; they are distinctly concave so that the thumb naturally rests on those controls. Between them is a raised button that activates the integrated laser pointer, allowing the user to direct his or her audience’s attention to a particular portion of a projected slide.

The Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter includes two small buttons above the primary Forward and Back controls, one that launches or exits the slideshow mode in PowerPoint(R) and one that turns the display to black. The device has a volume control for multimedia features on one side and the timer button on the other side.

In addition to displaying the timer, the LCD screen also includes a battery-level indicator. The Logitech Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter has an expected battery life of six months with frequent use.
