Curitel and Audiovox are to supply 10 million CDMA mobile handsets for use in North America by the end of 2005. The $1.6 billion dollar deal will ship out to 12 major mobile carriers including Verizon Wireless and Sprint PCS.
The handsets to be imported will range from a $130 basic candy-bar style to a $300 fully-featured multimedia handset with megapixel imaging and EV-DO network technology. Curitel expects to take more than 15% of the North American CDMA market share under the Pantech brand by the end of 2006.
Wouldn’t it be nice to see a version of the Curitel P1 available to North America? or how about the GI100 with biometric fingerprint recognition.
