FCC Wireless Airborne Ban still on

The FCC this Wednesday will seek public opinion on lifting the ban on wireless devices being used while in the air. Mobile phones, two-way communications and Blackberry type gadgets are currently banned and could take a least a year before they will be allowed to be used.

“We hope to complete our work as expeditiously as possible, but anything we do here at the FCC doesn’t alter the rules at the FAA (news – web sites),” FCC spokeswoman Lauren Patrich said.
