The shareholders of Microcell Telecommunications have offered up their shares, about $1.4 billion worth of them, to Rogers Wireless.
This offer just about cleans out over 90% of all the shares, being Class A restricted, class B non-voting or the outstanding 2005 warrants. With a current 4.3 million customers, the buyout will bring Rogers Wireless up to 5.5 million customers; making them the largest wireless carrier in Canada.
