Popular Science shows a mod for adding a $15 HyperGain RE05U 2.4GHz antenna to your Bluetooth adapter to increase the range up to 1 mile.
With a soldering iron and a steady hand, anyone could increase the range for their Bluetooth wireless headsets, PDAs or any other device, it won’t even interfere with nearby WiFi.
