Imagine being able to treat your CDs, Cellphones and PDAs about the same way you do now, just not having to suffer a single scratch? Chemists in Japan have created a scratch resistant polymer coating that can withstand the heaviest abuse, even a wire-wool pan scouring pad couldn’t leave a mark.

The multi coating process consists of separate layers of fine silica particles, fluorine-containing resins, and acetophenone. These are applied to discs by spin-coating the surface at 8000rpm.
