Intel today officially unveiled the Centrino Tri-mode Wi-Fi module for use in Intel Centrino based notebooks. The wireless module and bundled software will make it easier for end-users to setup a wireless connection using the three available Wi-Fi standards (supporting IEEE standards 802.11a, b and g).

The Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection along with the Intel PROSet/Wireless Software version 9.0 feature advanced security features, three Wi-Fi standards support and the technology to show all available networks in range, allowing you to create advanced network profiles for connections offering the maximum available data rate.

The adapter module will be available in future Intel Centrino based notebook PCs beginning in September and will only cost manufacturers $27 in quantities of 10,000.
