Apple has plans to ultimately release a tablet style computer that is similar in style to the iBook, but losing the keyboard and body. According to The Register, the sketches shown were filed with UK-based patent and trademark attorneys Urquhart-Dykes and Lord.

The filing mentions several of Apple’s employees, including Steve Jobs, CEO and industrial design chief Jonathan Ive. Several other members on the list were also part of the Power Mac G5, iPod and PowerBook G4 design teams.

Whatever this new computer will be, we can count on it being a wireless extension to iTunes and AirPort Express, possibly even a control unit to deliver Mac-stored music, photography and video wirelessly to your hi-fi and TV.
