Fujitsu Adds Fingerprint Sensor to LifeBook P Series Notebook

Fujitsu today unveiled the latest version of its popular LifeBook P Series notebook. Ideal for mobile professionals and students, the new LifeBook P7000 notebook weighs 3.27 pounds and can be equipped with advanced features such as a fingerprint sensor, a Super-Multi DVD drive, and Super AG wireless LAN technology.

“Since its introduction, the Fujitsu LifeBook P Series has received countless accolades for its incredibly small, feature-packed design,” said Paul Moore, director of product marketing for mobile computing at Fujitsu Computer Systems. “We take the meaning of ‘full-featured’ seriously. From its modular Super-Multi DVD drive to its impressive array of ports and media slots, the LifeBook P7000 notebook is definitely a leading contender for the most full-featured ultraportable on the market.”

Mobile professionals will certainly appreciate the notebook’s optional fingerprint sensor. With the swipe of a finger the biometric functionality can eliminate the complexity of managing multiple passwords. On average, computer users have to remember up to 10 to 20 passwords so they can sign on to their network, email accounts, Web sites, online bank and credit card accounts, corporate applications and more. The fingerprint sensor replaces all of these passwords with a virtually infallible means of personal identification.

Students and frequent travelers will love the notebook’s multimedia functionality. The LifeBook P7000 notebook features a modular bay that can accommodate a Super-Multi DVD drive, bay battery or weight saver. Users can slide in the Super-Multi DVD drive to save and share music, videos, photos and data onto virtually any DVD or CD format. On the road, they can watch DVD movies or swap the drive out with a bay battery to get up to nine hours1 of battery life. The notebook also includes a full-size S-Video out, a full-size external monitor port, two USB 2.0, IEEE 1394 and audio connectors, as well as dedicated Memory Stick PRO/SD and Compact Flash card slots for fast and easy storage and file transfers of music, pictures and data.

The LifeBook P7000 notebook is powered by an efficient Ultra Low Voltage Intel Pentium M Processor operating at 1.10 GHz and uses the enhanced Intel 855GME chipset. Users who opt for the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection will benefit from Intel Centrino™ Mobile Technology. The notebook is also available with an Atheros wireless module (802.11a+b/g) for those who want to take advantage of the increased throughput and range provided by Atheros Super AG™ wireless LAN technology.

Pricing for the Fujitsu LifeBook P7000 notebook starts at $1,6992.
