Symbian saved from Nokia Takeover

Earlier this year Psion announced the sale of their 31 percent stake in Symbian to Nokia, this would give them 63 percent and complete control over the company.

Nokia’s rivals reacted in fear of becoming too dependent on the company for their future software needs and purchased enough to keep Nokia at 48 percent.

Although Smartphones only account for a small share of the 600 million mobiles sold world wide every year, that number is expected to double to 20 million units this year.
