Apple today said they will be shipping the iPod mini 4GB music player internationally, starting July 24th, for a price of $249.

The delay was as expected, we saw many 4GB music players become unavailable, the shortage in Hitachi microdrives was the main cause. Since then Hitachi has doubled their facilities and modified the final product to prevent customers from removing the drive for other uses. This is a load of bullshit, if people are buying your product for one reason or another, why not let them do something extra with it, even if it does void their warranty, less hassles for the manufacturer down the road.
