Apex Digital will be launching their first portable media player next month. The MP-2000 will cost $399 and can be used as a TV, DVR, VCR, DVD Player or audio player from the internal 20GB hard drive. It has a 3.5-inch LCD display with 320×260 resolution and a mono external speaker.

Weighing only 8.5-ounces, the device decodes audio in the MP3, WAV, unprotected-WMA and PCM formats and decodes video in the MPEG-4, DivX, motion JPEG and WMV9 formats. Unfortunately there are no removable memory expansion slots for digital camera users, however it will display JPEG, GIF, TIFF, and BMP stills transferred from your PC via USB 2.0. To record onto the device, the system can encode to MP3 audio or MPEG-4 video.

With a descent battery life, the MP-2000 comes with a removable 2200mAh lithium-ion battery; it is rated to deliver 12 hours of music playing time or four hours of video.
