Seagate Announces 5GB CF Type II Card

Seagate announced their plans to produce 2.5 GB and 5 GB CF Type II hard drives today. Although they cannot use the name Microdrive, this is basically what the device is. Seagate plans to sell the device for digital imaging use and will distribute a hardwired version for MP3 players and PDAs, I guess this will stop people from pulling them out of the device. The 3600 RPM CF Type II cards feature ‘RunOn’ technology that will buffer data to prevent any loss if the device is knocked or vibrated during use.
