Sony Japan has unveiled a portable storage device aimed to the amateur and pro digital photography market. The HDPS-M1 has a 2.5-inch 40 GB hard disk and can download image files with the press of a button directly from Memory Stick and Compact Flash cards.
The unit is also intended as a mass storage device, with USB 2.0 connectivity and video output. It is unsure if the device supports direct USB connections from digital cameras. The HDPS-M1 will sell for around $270 USD in Japan on June 18th and measures 135 x 92 x 30 mm and weighs only 300g.
