TV broadcasters may object, but the Communications Commission (FCC) may go ahead with plans to allow Wi-Fi operators to use vacant frequencies between channels 2 and 51. Provided they do not disrupt existing stations, the proposal could allow many affordable wireless internet services to arise by 2006.
The spectrum in question could allow wireless equipment manufacturers and wireless providers to penetrate a larger area with fewer antennas needed with current Wi-Fi.
