A Japanese company named Kyushu Electronics Systems has developed a software application that can turn a standard PDA into a VoIP phone terminal.

The software features voice and video compression that works at one-tenth the size of current programs on the market, and is fast enough to achieve smooth 30 fps videophone communications with a 400kbps Internet connection. Not much else is known about the software, or if it will make it to North America, but rest-assured once more Wi-Fi zones are accessible we will be seeing a lot of VoIP over Wi-Fi.
