The first of its kind was unveiled at CTIA Wireless 2004 today, basically it’s a supped up LG 5450 handset with an integrated Fastap keypad. Fastap allows users to quickly type and send messages from their handset. Telus Mobility in Canada will be the first company in the World to offer the Fastap enabled CDMA 800/1900 MHz handset with VGA camera.
It took Digit Wireless almost 3 years to bring the Fastap keypad to the market, there shouldn’t be any delays now considering they just received 4.3 million dollars second round financing from Qualcomm Inc. and Telus Ventures. With these two companies behind them, we should see others adopt the Fastap technology, giving a more user-friendly approach to communicating via Email and SMS on your handset.
