NEC launches the MobilePro 900c Handheld PC

NEC today announced the $900 USD MobilePro 900c handheld PC running Windows CE .NET 4.2 OS. The 900c is optimized to support secure and scalable networking for the enterprise user.

Weighing less then two pounds and featuring a near full-size keyboard with a sharp flip-up style 8.1-inch HVGA (640×240) touch screen display. This is all powered by a 400MHz Intel PXA255 processor specifically optimized for Windows CE. NET.

The guts of the 900c are 64MB SDRAM, and 32MB of Flash ROM. An 8 hour lithium-ion battery with an option to upgrade to a fatter 16 hour battery. You can expand its functionality with the integrated 56Kbps V.90 modem, a PC Card Type I/II slot, a Compact Flash Type I/II slot and an infrared (Fast IR) port. The USB support also lets you attach practically anything from CD/DVD players to full size keyboards and mice.
