Visioneer announces business card scanning solution

Pleasanton, CALIFORNIA — Visioneer has announced the CardReader 100, a business card scanning solution that turns business card contacts into digital data that can be easily accessed, managed and maintained. The new CardReader 100 solution contains an ultra-small, USB-powered scanner as well as professional software that can accurately scan and OCR business cards in seconds. Its USB bus-powered design enables power to be delivered by a single cable, and its form factor is small enough to fit inside a shirt pocket. The bundled software provides state-of-the art OCR and an integrated contact database to organize and find contacts quickly and easily.

“More than a scanner, the CardReader 100 is a powerful productivity tool for professionals who need to convert contact information into actionable, digital customer files,” said Murray L. Dennis, Visioneer’s president and CEO. “And because the CardReader 100 is lightweight and portable, mobile professionals can digitize their business cards each day while they are on the road.”

From Paper to Productivity in Seconds
The CardReader 100 provides accurate scanning of business cards in seconds. Contact information can then be processed into editable text to turn paper-based contacts into a valuable, electronic database, providing busy professionals with contact information that’s always at their fingertips. The CardReader 100 also easily syncs to widely used mobile device platforms, such as Palm™ and WinCE, and exports contact information to Personal Information Management (PIM) applications such as Outlook®, Outlook Express, Excel®, ACT! and GoldMine. Information is automatically entered into common fields — such as name, address, telephone number, etc. — for export, and the original image is viewable for verification.

Designed for mobility and ease-of-use, Visioneer’s
CardReader 100 scanner utilizes a USB-powered connection via the USB cable so there is no power cable required. The CardReader 100 is compatible with USB ports 1.1 and 2.0 and is easy to install and use with software and documentation on one CD-ROM.

Price and Availability
The Visioneer CardReader 100 is currently available at Office Max retail stores. The suggested retail price is $149.99. For additional information, customers should visit the Visioneer web site at www.visioneer.com.
